On site evaluation and sensitization of community members on SRH and GBV

In line with our mission to promote social justice, equity and community well-being, Care-Aid and Peace Foundation has being conducting comprehensive Gender-Based Violence (GBV) campaign across several local communities in Katsina state. This initiative was born out of the urgent need to foster a safer, more inclusive environment for all.

Objective of the sensitization campaign The primary aim of the campaingn was to raise awareness about GBV, it's devastating effects on individuals and communities, and to empower local residents with knowledge and tools to identify, prevent, and address such issues. Specifically, the campaign sought to:

1. Educate communities on the forms, cause and consequences of GBV.

2. Promote gender equality and the protection of women and vulnerable groups.

3. Encourage victims and witnesses of GBV to report cases and seek help.

4. Partner with community leaders to create sustainable GBV prevention mechanisms.

Activities Undertaken

1. Community Engagement Sessions: The team organized interative sessions in villages, focus on educating men, women, and youth about GBV. Using relatable stories and real-life examples,we broke down complex topics into simple, understandable discussions.

2. Workshops And Training: Separate training sessions were held for community leaders, women's groups and youth representatives on recognizing GBV, victims. The sessions emphasized the role of ech group in combating GBV.

3. Collaboration with local Stakeholders: Religious and traditional leaders were actively involved, reinforcing the message with cultural and moral teachings that resonate with the local audience. This collaboration helped gain trust and acceptance within the communities.
